not a super bug c dificile Deaths linked to hospital superbug are up by 72% | Society | The Guardian

Technically not classed as a super-bug bacteria C Dificile that causes chronic sickness and diarrhoea is reaching epidemic proportions and spreading like a virus in modern Britain.

Deaths from the superbug are up by 72% in NHS hospitals claim the latest report. Many other cases may go unreported in healthier people.

What can you do to protect yourself apart from keeping everything clean and avoiding spreading contamination. A Harley Street nutritionist provides some tips.

"There's a fundamental need to protect your immune system by strengthening your digestive system" says London nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston. "Make sure you don't get dehydrated, always drink enough water, have soluble rather than insoluble fibre (oats rather than wheat bran) at least 5 portions of vegetables and no more than 3 portions of fruit per day, for fibre and antioxidants that protect the immune system. A residential strain probiotic to support beneficial bacteria is very useful. There are also specific beneficial micro-organisms which directly supports the immune system in the gut and compete with the harmful bacteria that has been used in the EU for years and is under trial in UK hospitals but is now available from Foods for Life Optimum Nutritionists."

Britney Spears Pregnant

Britney Spears Pregnant With all the important issues we are trying to address it is frustrating when all the world apparently wants to know is - "is Britney Spears Pregnant again?"

Even more frustrating with all the heart breaking stories we come across each week of couples who have been struggling with infertility trying for babies for years without success.

It's hard to blame people for feeling a slight edge of resentment at someone so apparently selfishly self obsessed smoking, drinking, drug taking and breaking all the rules and still seemingly able to churn out babies at the drop of a piece of denim.

However no one can deny that Britney has paid a price for her indiscretions and there is hope for those who find fertility a little harder than ms Spears.

Nutrition therapy can be up to 4 times more success full than IVF or other intervention treatments at less than a quarter of the cost so well worth a try.

See www.Optimumnutritionists.com page on fertility for more information.

The Sun - Celebrity's faces

The Sun - Celebrity faces

It's a bit of a double edged sword commenting in The Sun (even apart from the dreadful misquotes). It could be the end of a glittering career. However never afraid to tell it like it is and speak her mind London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston did it anyway. You're a celebrity and it's your own fault if you are looking haggard you've been obcessively dieting for over 20 years! (more or less)

Totally fearless treading where other nutritionists fear to tread. Read More in The Sun Online

"I'm uncomfortable being referred to as a celebrity nutritionist" said Yvonne Bishop-Weston. "I think it detracts from the day to day business of getting people fit and well. I'd much rather be well known for what I can do rather than who I know"

She is probably right to be wary. One of the problems of being labelled a 'celebrity nutritionist' is the a risk of getting dumped in the quack-box with Gillian Mckieth and Patrick Holford and having 'Dr' Ben 'I have a huge chip on my shoulder' Goldacre trying to piggyback your career.

kate moss Moss, Seaweed and Algae sound like they were made for each other don't they? Who know's if it's true but apparently Kate Moss is on a health kick and has discovered Seaweed and Algae Shakes hot on the heels of Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham.

We heard the Kate Moss rumour from the BBC no less so if you want some seaweed and algae shakes you had better stock up because if the weekly gossip rags get hold of this the UK will run out of stock within a few weeks.

If she is guzzling green algae and seaweed shakes then she has been well advised as "they are packed full of nutrients that we struggle to get enough of in our modern lifestyles" says London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston.

Jordon's Juices and Kate Moss's Seaweed and Algae Shake were featured on The Alan Titchmarsh Show
